Japanese Classes

Konnichiwa! Introducing a 2nd language at a young age is extremely beneficial, as studies prove that it boosts problem-solving, critical-thinking, listening skills, and the list goes on! In this class, we don’t force children to “repeat after me”. Boo! Boring! We start off by getting them interested in the Japanese culture through songs, dance, games, and crafts! Then the language naturally flows into the brain. Our goal is to get them used to listening to Japanese, and for the children to want to learn MORE!

Japanese (3.3 years-10 years)

Four 50min classes offered for ages 3 years and up. Japanese FUN introduces the Japanese language and culture though traditional stories, songs, games, crafts and basic writing. Our goal is to introduce the Japanese culture to students so they can learn about the beautiful culture and learn more about their heritage. Classes are instructed in Japanese and English. Classes are taught sitting down for our writing portion, laying on the floor for a cozy story time, or jumping around to get all our wiggle out! All materials are included, and students will be sent home with some optional homework each week.

Keiki Japanese (2.5 years-3.5years)

Designed for our youngest learners, Keiki Japanese is a fun and interactive grown-up participation class that introduces toddlers to the Japanese language and culture in an engaging, hands-on way! Each session includes a lively circle time with introductions, monthly songs, and dance, helping little ones build confidence in speaking and listening. Children will also practice name tracing and character tracing worksheets, strengthening early writing and fine motor skills. Through origami, storytime, and themed crafts, little learners will explore creativity while gaining exposure to Japanese traditions. This class is as much for parents as it is for keiki—we encourage you to enjoy the joy of learning alongside your child and celebrate their progress each week! All materials are included—let’s have fun learning together!

Kodomo Crafts (2.5 - 3.5 years)

Come explore the beauty of Japanese culture through stories and hands-on crafts in our engaging Kodomo Crafts class! Each session begins with a storytime, introducing little learners to traditions, festivals, and everyday life in Japan. Inspired by the story, children will create a themed craft, using a variety of materials such as paint, collage, clay, and more! In addition to arts and culture, we are excited to introduce an element of home economics, a fundamental part of Japanese education starting in elementary school. Children will engage in age-appropriate activities that introduce cleaning, cooking, manners, and basic life skills—all while having fun! This class nurtures creativity, independence, and an appreciation for cultural traditions in a playful and hands-on environment. All materials are included—come craft, learn, and explore with us!
